snake caught in the wild

Here is a hognose snake caught displaying when she thought she was in danger. They will also play dead at times. they will go limp and if picked up the will hang down like  wet rope  with their tongue (actually their fangs) hanging limply down from their mouth

The Hognose snake's diet consists of toads all most  exclusively of any other food source. they are rather large, slow moving the turned up snout is used to dig in the sand .  This is an eastern Hognose and is probably a female as she is quite large and quite likely is ready to lay her 10 or 12 eggs

a look at one of natures hidden beauties. A Mayapple blossom. It hides unseen under the umbrella leaves of the plant. A small fruit will develop in the center of the blossom and develop into a golf ball size fruit
